Gender Selection Options at North Cyprus IVF
*** Please be aware that MicroSort technologies are only patented to our clinic in North Cyprus. Even though there are other clinics in Cyprus claiming to have this treatment available, this is not the case. Please contact microsort.com directly for any questions you may have regarding fraud.
MicroSort IUI for Gender Selection
This
treatment method is very much like conventional IUI apart from the fact that
male partner's sperm is sorted into those that produce male and female
offsprings through the microsort procedure. The microsort sperm is then is
used for artificial insemination where it is injected intra-uterine.
Microsort for gender selection with IUI treatment has a 90% accuracy for
gender selection for a girl and 75% accuracy for gender selection for a boy.
Regarding success rates, Microsort IUI has similar success rates to IUI
treatment success rates. IUI is a lower chance treatment procedure compared
to IVF, therefore, for patients older than 30, it is recommended that they
go straight for IVF treatment rather than facing potential numerous failed
attempts with IUI.
For patients seeking risk-free gender selection methods with 99.9% accuracy,
then microsort IVF with PGD is recommended.
MicroSort IVF Treatment for Gender Selection
One of the
available options at our clinic is MicroSort IVF. This technology allow us
to sort the sperm into female and male producing cells with 75% accuracy for
a boy and 90% accuracy for a girl. This is a rather inexpensive method, but
it does not allow us to test for genetic disorders on the embryo and you
should keep in mind that it is not a 100% method for sex selection.
This treatment method is very much like conventional IVF apart from the fact
that male partner's sperm is sorted into those that produce male and female
offsprings through the microsort procedure. The microsort sperm is used to
fertilize the eggs that are retrieved from the female partner's ovaries at
the end of the ovulation induction process. The eggs are fertilized in a
laboratory environment and are placed in an incubator until they reach a
certain level of development and are then transferred into the uterus for
implantation. The medication used in IVF treatment is slightly different
from the IUI protocol. Patients who are in their late 20s or in their 30s
are often advised to go straight for IVF treatment rather than IUI for
higher chances of success.
Microsort for gender selection with IVF treatment has a 90% accuracy for
gender selection for a girl and 75% accuracy for gender selection for a boy.
Regarding success rates, Microsort IVF has similar success rates to IVF
treatment success rates. For patients seeking risk-free gender selection
methods with 99.9% accuracy, then microsort with PGD is recommended.
In Microsort IVF, ICSI is a routine procedure that we use.
IVF with PGD
for Gender Selection
Alternatively, there is PGD which is a genetic testing procedure done once
the embryos are created. It allows us to identify the gender with 99.9%
accuracy as well as screening for most common genetic disorders, making sure
your baby does not possess a serious genetic condition. This method is a bit
more expensive compared to microsort IVF but is more accurate.
Gender
selection through PGD works just like conventional IVF, where eggs and sperm
are fertilized in the laboratory environment. Then, embryos are placed in an
incubator for optimal growth. Once the embryos reach the 8-cell growth stage
(usually day 3 after fertilization), biopsy is performed where a single cell
is retrieved from each embryo for diagnosis. This biopsy allows us to test
for certain genetic conditions and determine the sex. Apart from the sex of
the baby, we test chromosomes X, Y, 13, 18 and 21, which are the causes of
almost 90% of all genetic-linked abnormalities, such as down's syndrome.
MicroSort IVF with PGD for Gender Selection
The best gender selection method we are able to offer is combining microsort
and PGD. This way, we can make sure that majority of the fertilized eggs are
of desired sex with a 75-90% precision and subjecting them to further
genetic testing puts this up close to 100% and allows you to have the
healthy embryos transferred for implantation. This is what we recommend,
especially for patients older than 35, who tend to have limited egg
reserves. This way, we are able to offer you a very good chance of getting
the gender that you want even if there are just a few eggs to work with.
Gender
Selection IVF with Microsort and PGD works in two stages. First, the male
partner's sperm is sorted into those that produce male and female offsprings
through the microsort procedure. The microsort sperm is used to fertilize
the eggs that are retrieved from the female partner's ovaries at the end of
the ovulation induction process. Then, embryos are placed in an incubator
for optimal growth. Once the embryos reach the 8-cell growth stage (usually
day 3 after fertilization), biopsy is performed where a single cell is
retrieved from each embryo for diagnosis. This biopsy allows us to test for
certain genetic conditions and determine the sex. Apart from the sex of the
baby, we test chromosomes X, Y, 13, 18 and 21, which are the causes of
almost 90% of all genetic-linked abnormalities, such as down's syndrome. Our
clinic is the only clinic in Northern Cyprus with an in-house PGD lab, so
all our biopsies are screened within premises.
This
option allows couples to maximize the amount of embryos they have of desired
sex where it also gives them 99.9% accuracy for gender selection as well as
genetic screening.
